The location of the ceremony and reception is roughly 30 miles west of Honolulu and Waikiki. Staying in the Honolulu/Waikiki area not only has more to offer in the way of tourist attractions, but it's also likely to be a lot cheaper.
Another option outside of our area is the North Shore. It's a little more remote and a little further drive, but has nice resorts and famous surf beaches.
Wedding area
The whole area is called Ko'Olina and is owned by Marriott. There are two properties here. The first, Ko'Olina Beach Club, (which is primarily a time share), has a limited number of rooms available, but is the cheaper of the two.
The second option is the J.W. Marriott Ihilani Resort and Spa. It's a wonderful place to stay and the place we'll stay on the wedding night. It is, however, much more expensive.
The two are only separated by a five minute walk along a well groomed walking path that winds next to three beautiful lagoons. It's not too bad. ;-) Both locations do offer discounts from time to time, including AAA and a senior discount.
Both are only a couple minutes from the ceremony site, Paradise Cove.
Honolulu / Waikiki
Of course the prime spot is Waikiki Beach. We'll list a couple of our favorites here, and a link for countless other random places we can't possibly vouge for.
North Shore
Same with the North Shore. We've only visited. Never stayed. We did have lunch at Turtle Bay once. Therefore it tops our list as North Shore's Best resort!
